Hypocrisy Vs Humanity, Oops they are synonyms!

How can they think 'they' are standing strong,
yet I can feel the Air beneath their 'foundation'!

This is not exactly a merry piece of writing, though I keep promising to myself that I ought to think of something really pleasant to write. But, everything that I witness around me, has nothing pleasant to offer so that I could get inspired to write about it.
This post is merely a tiny platform, where I could attempt to come to terms with my 'anguish', my utter disappointment and a loathe, that I want to free myself from, for having birthed as a human!

This anecdote that I am going to narrate happened just about a few days ago.
I was at my work place(as usual). And when I was running a couple of errands, my sight happened to catch a hurt pigeon's.
When I looked at it, I first thought it was just resting in the shade, due to the scorching heat. But, there was an unsettling feeling that implored me to have a second look at it. The Bird, was drenched. It was below some pipe-line, and perhaps there was a crack in the pipe, and it was leaking, and that had drenched the bird wet.
And I noticed that it was unable to move, walk, or even blink properly. I picked it up, and wiped it with a cloth that was lying in the vicinity. I looked into it's eyes. They were blood red!

I panicked. I knew that the helpless little 'LIFE' in my palm, was ill, and in a lot of pain. I took it under a tree, and left it there, and I asked the guards to keep an eye on it. I came back after about half and hour and it was there, in the same position, yet not life-less.

I immediately called the N.G.O.  'people for Animals'. No body answered. I called my vet. Doctor, hoping to get some help. He directed me to another group, something like an N.G.O. I am guessing. No body answered again!
I called People for animals again. Thankfully someone did answer the phone. I heaved a sigh of relief. I spoke to the person on the other side of the phone. I asked for an ambulance. And he said that they will send it asap. And then, he asked me, what animal required help. I said a pigeon. And he exclaimed!
'Kabutar!'. I could hear him giggle at the other end of the line. I hung up, with absolute disgust when he said that he cannot send an ambulance for a 'kabutar'!

...........End Of the Anecdote..............

Isn't it rhetorical, that they call themselves, people for animals. We fight against racism, religions and what not!
Why can't we fight for all animals, with the same passion!
You can't help birds, or other tiny creatures, because they aren't as 'cute' or 'lovable' like the pedigree dogs?
Don't they have a life? Why must you consider a dog's life more valuable than a pigeons?

I guess, setting up NGOs and doing social work, to earn extra credits, is just hypocrisy. You really think you can change something. Start from the foundation.
Bring about these feelings of 'care', 'love', 'kindness', without ANY bias.
This is NOT some kind of philosophical talk you listen to in lecture halls....
This is just an expression of deep felt hurt, and disgust!

And if you are curious to know about the pigeon. She is perfectly fine, thanks to Google search(ask me how later)!

At this point I am so much reminded of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar

intercepts from Antony's Speech:
"The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;"

  1. This act of humans justifies the subject of your previous post about the slaughter house where animals, living animals are killed whilst still alive! When that's how worse a human can get, this is very well justified...!! Kabutar?! Doesnt it bloody have a LIFE?! For a SO-CALLED NGO to reject tending to the poor helpless creatures?! People, Humans have reached or surpassed that stage of feeling empathy or feeling @ all in general, so they infact find it FUNNY to help a pigeon..!! Very well justified but NOT warranted in any case..! Pity the human race for being such heartless hypocrites..

  2. The predicament is about morality here i suppose. A sensitive person as you wouldn't stand the sight of suffering, and so you've posed the question here, as to what is humanity upto.

Its morality again, if the foundation had to choose between sending an ambulance for a pregnant cow that's prematurely suffering of something, or your pigeon, what would they choose?
When it comes to a pigeon its left to you if you want to take it to that foundation or any other doctor or vet for that matter, you don't expect them to come pick it up.

Do you feel the same way for a cockroach/rats? Or an ant infestation in the house? You let them live? As the have a right to do so as every other human being? Do you wanna write them up a set of 'freedoms'?

In a non ideal world where underprivileged people themselves do not have access to meds and a doctor, is it right to expect the courtesy for a bird? In a utopian world perhaps.

At the end of the day you found the solution yourself and did great. Kudos.

But you don't say i did my duty and called the guy and he smirked at me. You're just being naive.
They probably saved a different life that day. A street dog and just gave birth to pups, a goat that's been providing milk to its family. You never know.

There is a bigger picture too.
For now, sometimes we are just helpless and we've got to do the best we can with what we've got. That's for us.

Morality. Right and wrong. Its all relative.

    1. We just fool ourselves of 'the bigger picture' my friend; there isn't any. The 'Ambulance' that they did not send is more metaphorical. They did not even offer to help. They did not even offer a few words of medical advice, on the contrary, the guy giggled at my apparent 'naiveness'.

And just fyi, I did call the same set of guys to save a 'street dog' that was bleeding just a few months after the this incident, the guy said they will help and will call me back to take the details of the location etc. He never called back, more so, did not answer my phone calls when I tried reaching him. I called from another phone and the moment he realised it was me again, he hung up.

The point that I am trying to make here is that, we set up NGOs, a lot of us go work for it, calling it social work, but we do all that only because it either elevates our own feeling of 'greatness' or just to earn that extra credit or a reputation of sorts. Most of us with a few exceptions don't do it for the sheer love of it.

I feel the same way towards all living beings, be it rants, ants or cockroaches. I sure keep my house clean enough so that I don't have them around, but if I find them on the road for instance,I wouldn't kill them. Anyway, I don't want to project a 'larger than life' attitude here. I just think if I care and love for something I would do it without it being tainted with 'credits' or a reputation. Period. Thanks for reading and commenting!

  3. That's amazing. And its amazing.

Someone needs to restore our faiths in humanity.
I've the same outlook as you, i try to give them another chance, just in case. But every now and then, i've been rewarded rather than let down. Once we change our approach sufficiently, or find better people.

Anyway, the previous comment was more motivated by the animal slaughter video you had us watch in the earlier post. It really fucks with the mind.

There is a bigger picture (Not relating to animal slaughter or the guy on phone but in general). And if we don't believe in it, what's the point of this life?

    1. Well, you are very optimistic. I so want to be like that. I have been let down far too often to believe that there are a 'few' people who are genuinely good. Sometimes I don't trust my own motives, as I am human too!

Yes, it was my bad to have posted that animal slaughter video. I was agonized to see that myself, and perhaps the sadist in me wanted to pain others too. But I shall take that down.

But, I still don't believe that there is a bigger picture or may be my mind is too clouded by all that negative perception that I am missing to seek the clear blue sky with the bright sun!

Until the clouds clear, I shall fail to see it. Nay, I fear, I might never!
